Karly Echevarria, a junior at Nordhoff Junior High and High School, received the February Student of the Month award from the Rotary Club of Ojai West at the club’s meeting, March 17th. Annelisa Cohen, head of the Agricultural, Natural Resources, and Ecology Career Technical Education pathway at Nordhoff and Karly’s teacher in that pathway told Rotarian’s, family members, and guests at the meeting, “Karly is a sweet, kind, and considerate student. She is dedicated to her academic while also managing our native plant nursery. She is reliable and capable. She is talented with native plants from demonstrating how to transplant natives into the ground to others, to doing the delicate work of potting and watering the plants. She has the touch and pays attention to detail. She sees what needs to be done and does it. She is my motivation as a teacher.”

Karly received a $500 scholarship from the club to be used for her future academic goals.
